MJ X REVISITED

Music just isn't the same as it used to be. Neither are the listeners or the stations blasting the voice of Auto-Tune (thanks to T-Pain). This is neither good nor bad, just an indication that music evolves as its own beast and never has a continuous beat.
When I was a kid, music created a sanctuary for me from the lyrics the artist painted in my mind of the world. From the likes of "Parents Just Don't Understand" to "Don't Worry, Be Happy" music has always had that nutritious effect on my mind. The lyrical flow artists express in their craft today has a different swagger than that of the artist before them. One icon who changed my life and the world of music is the King of Pop or, as I like to call him, M.J.
Michael Joseph Jackson is arguably the most influential artist of our time. From his often-imitated crotch grab to his high-pitched E-sharp, the king was one of those artists who was born to be great and share his gifts with the world.
In the rising years of M.J., he grew from a singular entity into a pop-music icon. As a fan, I can say if my house were to catch on fire, one of the things I would grab is my Thriller CD. Thriller is the top-selling album in the history of the recording industry today, making the great Michael Joseph Jackson a legend.
Growing up, I always looked to M.J. not just as some pop mogul, but a big brother who was extended family. Just like a big brother, Michael taught me how to "Beat It" and helped me through my fair share of girls named "Dirty Diana" (just kidding).
His rhythmic genius can still be traced to artists such as Chris Brown, who ventured into the industry because of Jackson. Chris Brown even did a tribute to the King on BET's 2010 Awards.
Even though the King of Pop, my brother, has moved on, his craft and story will forever dwell in the minds of musicians, singers, songwriters and artists. M.J.'s music had no color and brought everyone together -- something artists struggle with today. The hit single "Man in the Mirror" generated millions of dollars for dying countries. Jackson was his own triple-threat player, and he was always up to the challenge of changing the world with his music and dancing. Michael turned out to be a pioneer for both the dance and music industries. The man behind the captivating dance moves "The Moonwalk" and "The Robot" will always be tattooed in the mouths of the musically inclined.
M.J. was more than just an artist; he was a movement and still is. The likes of the man with the white glove and smooth, slick dance moves will never fade to black as long as pop still lives.

Call me Tim not TIMOTHY!

After the positive reaction from the post "ROSEWOOD X HAZELWOOD" I decided to do a follow up on one of the members in the post. This young man I felt has worked hard and deserved individual recognition. Growing up I always looked to Tim for advice and creativity as a brother and a fellow artist. His creativity has shown to surpass the minds of many our age and past some adults. He is one of the coolest people you could meet and his talent will carry him to where ever his heart desires. Since we graduated things have really looked up for Moore such as a internship with ALIVE magazine to gaining more equipment for his reserves.  AS the year ends a near Tim has decided to pack his bags and cary on his talent in a different location with a different audience. Tim always said," What don't kill you only makes you stronger."-

The talent and the likes of this young photographer is both riveting and exquisite. I can't wait to see how Tim evolves into the great photographer and man he is and where he will end up.

"ROSEWOOD" X OR "HAZELWOOD"

In the news recently the Saint Louis area has been in the limelight for all the wrong reasons. With our recent peak back to the top of the number #1 crime spot, the city has been on full alert. Even if statics say one thing the city of Saint Louis is not as the media tries to make it seem. We always want to point the finger at the things that go wrong, but we don't really try to think about the positives. As every city has it's up's and down's and it's fair share of ghettos but it has positive attributes. From the unique scenery to the diverse culture that you can gain from the Central West End to the Frontenac Square. But past all that Saint Louis is one of the best untapped markets for the arts, talent, and potential in general. On school in particular that has really shone promise for the city of Saint Louis is Hazelwood Central High in North County, Saint Louis. A few people who I have a lot of faith in are some graduates that I have come into contact with.

Jessica Page X Rahmar Duffy
fashion, music, art, photography

" These two are so talented that the sky is the limit for them. From fashion to art they have a lot of creative ideas and input that could benefit the fashion industry. A few years ago in high school the duo created a blog that impressed everyone and gave people a glimpse of their true potential. In the following years I know the city can expect big things from the Dynamic Duo." ( Class of 2010 )

B. Stewart
singer, song writer, role model, designer

" To start off  you can hear Bryant Stewart singing on the local radio in the Saint Louis Area. To say the least he is an amazing person and he has an amazing talent in the music industry. Even in his high school years Stewart and his friends started a clothing line called , " Cloud Nine" and it was a hit in the Saint Louis Area. Shortly after high school Bryant found his real passion in music and has been doing it ever since."

Bradley Rayford
photography

" Bradley Rayford is a really cool guy and I think a camera is permanently attached to his hand. Past his obsession with photography he loves to inspire and push peoples passion in things. Time has shown that he has  a great eye for photography and he has a true passion. I have no doubt that this guy will make it big and I just hope that I'm up there with him."

Gabrielle  Michelle
model

" Basically Gabby as we called her at Central; always had the look that models needed. She would be the girl that girls would look at to see what to wear next and how to walk a runway. Gabby surprised everyone in her debut on the the show "America's Next Top Model". Since knee high Gabrielle has wanted this and will stop at nothing to make it."

Timothy J. Moore
photography, fashion, creative genius

" Mr.Moore as I like to call is a very talented and creative individual. Since he could pick up a pen he has been creating and taking pictures and anything artist since. The amount to which this man is capable of is undeniable and extremely fascinating. The stills of life that Tim can capture with a camera are riveting and timeless and he has a impeccable talent. He will change the world of photography."

The Plaid Ole' Dayz

XxXx The weather gets colder and the days get grimmer. "Memories made in the Coldest Winter" (courtesy of Mr. WEST). One thing we do have to cherish is the fashion. The collision of colors that juxtapose against the colorless skies of ice cold and lonely nights. Fashion continues to stand still. What is one of the most important elements you ask? A plaid shirt that is essential to the development of a complete outfit.
For a man, a plaid shirt can make or break the image of his outfit. Even in this season of windy days and chilly nights, a plaid shirt symbolizes the connection with the natural world. Even if we don't know it, nature plays a part in what we wear. Our external appearance plays a part in the color palettes of the environment. One constant
remains the same, a plaid shirt stands the test of time and seasonal changes.

DANBO X BASIC BOTS

Since my new found interest in ROBOTS, I was introduced to a internet sensation that goes by the name of Danbo. Danbo is a boxed robot that was created from the Japanese show"Yotsuba&!"The Japanese anime manifested this idea of Danbo from a robot suite one of the characters would wear in the cartoon. After a few minutes of surfing the net in reference to the box robot; I began to really appreciate the artist simplicity of the idea of Danbo and I have been a fan ever since. Danbo can be found all around the internet in different situations with different expressions but he is still the same Basic Bot.
- If DANBO can do it so can you !

X Dollar Signs must "RUN" in the Family X

The the once chubby kid with braces that we knew from "Runs House" has grown up and started to establish his self in both the world of music and fashion. Daniel Dewanye"Diggy" Simmons III has in a short time grown from Rev. Run's son to that kidd Diggy with the sharp tongue. It appears that the Simmons family is no stranger to the finer things in life and Diggy shows no signs of stopping that anytime soon. Following behind his brother in the music and rap industry some would argue that he has definitely bypast JoJo and paved his on way. Besides the lyrical footprint Simmons has started to leave he is also becoming a buzz in the fashion industry. More and more fans and celebrities alike are turning their necks to see what fashion tips / ideas that can steal from the young star. Just last August Young Mr. Simmons even launched his own sneaker line Chivalrous Culture

After getting signed to Atlantic records and dropping 3 mix-tapes by the time he has hit puberty then I guess we can't expect anything less then greatness. As Diggy continues to rise in the world of art, he plans to change up the game and become the next hip-hop/fashion mogul.

P.S : Team Diggy& Willow.

X Mr. West's Dark Twisted Fantasy Becomes Reality X

To begin with, this is NOT an album review. There are plenty of those around this cyber world that we dwell in to feast your eyes upon. However, this can be simply attributed to being a testimony to the ever-growing efforts of the man we know as Kanye West and his "Dark Twisted Fantasy." Simply put, the album where sexual desires, phoenixes crashing and rising, dreams of marrying porn stars, disconnections with society, aggression towards the media, and tributes to Michael Jackson provide as the makeup to a fantasy that has become reality through the theater of Kanye West's mind.

This perhaps may be one of the most ambitious albums in Hip-Hop history. The attraction and thrill ride known as "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" is an epic and grandiose look into the mind of one of the most controversial figures of the decade.

Has West managed to change the sound of Hip-Hop once again? Who knows? That is yet to be determined. However, his past history has proven that he has been definitely been an incredible force in the Hip-Hop culture as far as music and fashion goes. All the bells and whistles do not matter though. What does matter is his current achievement. "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" is quite possibly the most anticipated album of 2010. In due time, we will see if the hype of the critics and the media apply. This post may not have much focus and may be considered a meaningless rant, but believe what you desire. It can't be denied that Kanye West is back in true form. And with his library of albums, which include "The College Dropout," "Late Registration," "Graduation," the controversial "808's and Heartbreak," and now Dark Twisted Fantasy, West is sure to go down as one of the greatest Hip-Hop artists of all-time.
